From subscriptions to ownership, here’s what you need to know about how our website service works.

Do you build bilingual (French–English) websites?

Yes. I can set up your site in both French and English with a clean language switch and matching pages in each language. Because a bilingual site usually means more pages and content to set up, the cost depends on the size and complexity of your website. Tell me what you have in mind and we’ll go over the structure together so I can give you a clear, custom quote.

How long does the subscription last?

The subscription has a 12-month minimum term. That period covers the full custom build and launch of your site. After 12 months, it switches to a simple month-to-month plan and you can cancel any time.

If you cancel, the site itself isn’t transferred and will go offline (otherwise most people would just do that and we wouldn't be able to stay in business).

What happens to my website if I cancel the subscription?

The site’s code and design are owned by EnGarde Web – you’re essentially renting that from us through your subscription. If you cancel, that code and design stay with us and the live site goes offline.

You still fully own your domain name, logo, branding, text, photos and any other assets you provided, and you’re free to use those anywhere else.

What happens if I cancel before the 12 months are over?

If you cancel before the 12 months are up, you’re responsible for the full build cost of the site ($6,500) minus whatever you’ve already paid in subscription fees.

Our model is built for long-term partnerships, so we ask that clients come in with the same mindset.

Are there refunds?

We stand behind our design work. After you sign on (whether it’s a lump sum or subscription), we start with the design phase. If we’re not able to create a design you’re happy with and you decide not to move forward, we’ll refund whatever you’ve paid to get started.

Once you approve the design and we begin building the site, payments are no longer refundable, since that’s when the bulk of the production work happens. After that point, any refunds are at our discretion.

How much does it cost to add extra pages or a blog?

Each plan includes the first 5 pages. If you need more, additional pages are a one-time fee of $200 per page.

If you’d like a blog added to your site, there’s a one-time setup fee of $500. After that, everything is covered by your regular monthly management.

On subscriptions, once I’m done with the 12-month minimum, do I continue paying after that?

Yes. The subscription keeps running month to month after the 12-month minimum. You keep paying as long as you want us hosting, updating and managing your site.

Because we charge $0 down for a build that would normally be a $6,500 project, it usually takes us a couple of years to earn what we’d make on a traditional lump-sum site. Ideally, we work with clients for 4–5 years or more. By then, the website should be bringing in far more than $300 a month in business, so it effectively pays for itself.

Can I buy out of my subscription after the 12-month minimum has passed?

No, there isn’t a buyout option to “pay off” the website and stop the monthly subscription. The subscription model only works because we spread the cost of a custom $6,500 build over time and rely on ongoing monthly revenue to cover hosting, updates, support and future improvements.

If clients could simply buy out after a year or two, we’d constantly be replacing that income and wouldn’t be able to stay as hands-on or responsive as we are now. Our goal is to build long-term relationships where your site keeps performing for you and the monthly fee keeps funding the level of service you signed up for.

Is SEO part of your packages?

Yes and no. SEO has two sides:

  • On-page SEO – everything on your site (structure, content, speed, meta tags, etc.).
  • Off-page SEO – everything off your site (backlinks, citations, outreach, ongoing content campaigns, etc.).

With every website we build, we take care of the foundations of on-page SEO: fast load times, mobile-friendly layout, clean code, proper headings, basic meta tags, image alt text and sitemap/Google Search Console setup.

That said, we don’t act as a full SEO agency. Ongoing keyword strategy, link building, local citations and content campaigns are not included in our packages. We focus on giving you a fast, well-structured site that’s ready to rank and easy for an SEO specialist to build on if you decide to invest more later.

If I cancel my subscription, do I keep my domain?

Yes. You always own your domain name. If you ever cancel, we can help you point or transfer it wherever you’d like.

How long does the process take from start to finish?

Most projects launch in about 2–3 weeks from the time we have everything we need from you. The exact timeline depends on how quickly you can send content and give feedback on designs.

If there are delays on content or extra revisions, it can stretch closer to 4 weeks, but our goal is always to get you live as quickly as possible without cutting corners.

Do you use WordPress or page builders?

No. All of our sites are built with custom, hand-written code – no WordPress, no page builders. That’s a big part of what sets us apart.

Going custom gives you several advantages:

  • Faster load times – no heavy themes or plugin bloat weighing the site down.
  • Better security – there’s no public CMS or plugin stack to keep updating and patching, and no database for bots to attack.
  • Lower maintenance – you’re not constantly dealing with WordPress updates, broken plugins or theme conflicts.
  • Cleaner, more flexible code – we can design exactly what your business needs instead of squeezing you into a template.
  • Easier for you – you don’t have to learn a builder or worry about “breaking” something; you just ask us and we handle it.

In short, we put in more effort up front so you get a site that’s faster, more secure and easier to live with long term.
